My console has purple lines running through the screen horizontally?

I was watching netflix then i went upstairs to get something to drink when i came back down there were purple lines running through the screen. I could still see the picture but there was a purple tint caused from the lines. the sound works fine and everything. I've tried a different hdmi cable and everything still nothing... Any suggestions?

Do you have the Comp/AV Cables to try and see if the problem still exists?

When you change the channel to something other than your Xbox are the purple lines still there? If so then it is something with your TV and you should contact the manufacturer. If it is only on the Xbox then you should try it on another TV and if they are still there then repeat with new cables, component, composite, HDMI etc. Whatever seems to be the problem switch it out. If it is your Xbox 360 console then contact support or go to your local Microsoft store if that is possible and seek further assistance. Hope it helps.

I've had the same problem as you before. I tried switching out the cords but absolutely nothing worked. If buying/switching cords then I would call xbox support because it is probably your console. I tried ignoring it and eventually my video stopped working altogether. Hope this helps.

The same happened with mine. It wasn't the HDMI cable but the HDMI output on the xbox which was no longer working properly.

Aside from than it could also be the HDMI input on your television, unless other devices work just fine. In which case it's the xbox output.

Solutions for this problem are but not limited to:

a) Use composite cable

b) Try a HD-VGA cable (Which is what I used, good quality, smoother than HDMI, but that's down to personal preference)

c) Get the HDMI output replaced

d) replace your xbox.

My suggestion would be to try the HD-VGA cable. You can get a Microsoft brand which is fairly cheap and works well. Plus you won't need any extra accessories in order to plug in stereo headsets as covering the outputs are no longer an issue.
