Moving saved games between profiles

My girlfriend began playing Xbox games under my profile, but we have recently created her own local profile on my console. None of the games she plays are online, and although I do have a WLID, she doesn't, and don't anticipate getting her one in the future. All gane data is local to my console.

Can the game data she has acquired be moved from my profile, where it was created, to her newly created profile ? If so, please elaborate.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Despite what was mentioned above it can be possible to swap saves between profiles. However it will depend on the game and you are unable to gain achievements while using the copied save.

I'll describe how to do it using a game I know it works on, Mass Effect.

Sign in with the account you want the save copied to. Then go to My Xbox and scroll to the end and pick System Settings. Now pick Memory and on the new screen the device the save is saved on.

Now choose games and scroll until you find the game, Mass Effect in our example, and enter the folder by pressing A.

Find the save you want copied and press A. You'll now be presented with three options but we only want the first, Copy.

Press A on Copy and choose to save it to the same location.

Now if the game allows the save to be copied you will have a new save created belonging to the new profile. Remember though that you wont be able to gain achievements by using that save, so your girlfriend will have to decide if she wants achievements or to retain her progress.

Hey guys, I'm afraid Smwutches is correct here. Sharing game saves between profiles is not officially supported.

Here is a direct quote when you select a save not your own "By copying or moving this item, you will become the new owner. If you are not already the owner, you will not be able to earn achievements for gameplay using this item."

If it is not officially supported then why is that function to swap saves between profiles part of the dashboard software?

Hey Vote, I just took a look at this feature and I was unable to actually transfer a game save between profiles (I received an error message indicating game progress cannot be shared between profiles). Were you able to successfully transfer a game save between profiles? If so, for what game was the save?

As mentioned in my October 17th post, a game I can confirm it works with is the first Mass Effect. Try the function with that game and you'll see that it works.

-

However as I also mentioned in October it doesn't work for all games, I assume because the developers/publishers are able to put a block on the swap function.

-

Now I'm petty enough to go through every save I have on my hard drive to find another game that allows the profile swap function to work if you'd like, as I find it hard to believe that Microsoft would add it in if only Mass Effect 1 could take advantage of it.
