Migrating to a 250GB Slim - Xbox Live's DRM is frustrating the hell out of me

Here's the issue. On my old 60GB 360, there were a few accounts. One had most arcade games on, but there were a couple of others with lots of money spent on arcade games. Now I've migrated the data to the new 360. However, despite using license transfer on all accounts, only the gamertag that made game purchases can access the full games. On my old console, my main gamertag I use now could access full games from other accounts because it was licensed to the console. Now I'm left feeling like I've been mugged. Please don't tell me the content being able to be shared across all accounts is locked to my old 360.

If that's the case, it's a pretty horrible practice on Microsoft's part. I pay for games, and I should be rewarded for upgrading to their new console. Not have what I paid Microsoft for taken away from me. It's like going to your car dealer, being persuaded to upgrade to a new vehicle, and then the next morning finding that your dealer's removed the wheels.

Okay, I just tried deleting and redownloading one of the games I purchased with a secondary account, Sonic 4. And now it works with all GTs. But do I now have to download everything I purchased? This is going to take forever and is pretty impractical...

Yup. There's 2 parts to the license transfer. The 1st part transfers the licenses. The 2nd part is redownloading them. It should have pulled up your purchase history and had you redownload them when you did the license transfer.

Yeah, I couldn't access the second part of the process at first though. I had to switch to IE, as when I used Google Chrome I got the unhelpful errror: "It appears you've found a glitch in the system". So I guess the transfer cable's only good for game saves anyway, huh? Who's going to want to keep old game demos?

Anyway, here's hoping this works now. I have many gigabytes to download... >_>

I had a small problem transferring data myself when I got my new box.  Try deleting and then recovering your gamertags on the new console.  That's what I was told when I contacted support and it solved my problem.  Hopefully that will solve yours as well.

Just download a little bit at a time.  Basically set it and forget it.  You can go to the system settings and turn on background downloads as well.  Background downloads will allow the downloads to continue while the xbox is shut off.  I believe that you can set up between 15-25 downloads in the queu at a time.
