May 19th update broke my internal wireless?!

Both my brother and I started playing xbox at the same time tonight, he on an original xbox 360 with a wifi adapter, and I with an xbox 360 slim.

I had to download an update, he did not.

After the update "finished" it gave me some weird error saying something about how the update can't be completed.  I was disconnected from Xbox LIVE.

Now I cannot even connect to my wireless router (it still shows up as having 4 bars, but when I test the connection, it always fails to connect).

I took my xbox to a different tv and finished the update by plugging in an ethernet cable, however, it will still not connect to the wifi router (yes, I unplugged the ethernet cable).

My xbox was working fine for months before this.  It was fine yesterday.

I have spent the past 3 and a half hours working on this, please help.

I can't keep my xbox here to play on it, therefore, I cannot play online at all.

This sucks because tomorrow is my birthday and I won't be able to play any of the games I get online :(

I'd also like to add in that this is the Halo Reach Limited Edition Xbox 360 Slim (250GB) and has had no modifications on it at all.  I can't even figure out how to take the faceplate off :P

I would suggest restoring the console network settings to factory defaults and reconfiguring the console, if this doesn't work as strange as this sounds restore your router to factory settings and re-setup your network, thats what worked for me.

@apocalypseurza1

Did you have the same problem?

I didn't restore my console network settings to factory defaults, but I did reconfigure my wireless settings.

I'll try now, though, thanks for the answer! :)

no worries, and yeah I have seen this before and did so many different things to fix it, but yeah defaulting the router is usually my last step before coming here or calling support for help.

you can usually log into the routers software and use a button in there to do it, which router do you have and I can point you a bit more precisely.

A D-Link.

However, it has a password and I believe it's also hidden.  If I do this, I need to get those put back on, and I'm not completely sure how to do it...
