Lost Connection to Xbox LIVE after Hard Drive Install

For the last four weeks I have been on my new Xbox 360S 4GB system to Xbox LIVE without any issues.  But today I added a 250GB hard drive - powered off and unplugged powercord before install - and now I can't connect to Xbox LIVE after MANY attempts.  I wouldn't think the hard drive would make a difference but that is the only change to the Xbox or my internet service since it was working fine.

The system connects to my wireless Linksys router and the Internet without problem.  I can login to Xbox LIVE on my PC as well as anything else on the Internet via the same router and cable modem.

I didn't try it before, but I just pulled the hard drive and it still won't connect to Xbox LIVE.  Values are the same as above too, connects to my router and the Internet but not Xbox LIVE.

Maybe something else changed, I noticed the Bing search on the dashboard is gone too.  But I haven't turned it on for a few days and the last I played it the system worked perfectly....

TAfir3hawk, may I suggest changing the security of your router for the moment from WEP to an open network and see if that will let you connect.  Thanks

Turning WEP off, which was previously working just fine, gets access to Xbox LIVE.  Now it gives a NAT Error - set to Moderate.  I have UPnP enabled so this is a mystery at the moment.

I suggest you use Port Triggering to allow for the XBox live ports to be opened.. the ports to port trigger are as follows:  53, 80, 88, 3074.  Respectfully speaking, once you have set the ports to trigger you shouldn't have any more issues with your NAT type, but then again, that is not always the case, give this a try and see how if it works and let me know :)

I triggered those four ports and it still gives the NAT Error but the More Info codes have changed.

I am not playing anything that has a problem with this NAT Error but I don't remeber this when I first got this a month ago.

Same here in CT. I was watching a show and it told me it couldn't connect all of the sudden, and after my show was over it kicked me off and now I can't get back onto the Netflix server I get the same error. Seems like a netflix problem.

Hey TAfir, aside from triggering those ports, there are a couple other things to try. Have you had a chance to look at this NAT guide, to see if the other steps listed there resolve your issue?

Yes I went through that guide except the port forwarding.  In the end my system is back to the way it was 2 days ago when everybody else seemed to be having Xbox LIVE connectivity issues.....

Everything works except it says the NAT level is moderate even though I have UPnP and port triggering turned on.

At this point, it wouldn't hurt to ensure that their isn't something in the connection you're receiving from your ISP that's causing this issue. Can you please try connecting directly to your modem, and then run a connection test to see if the same thing comes up?
