Lost ALL of my data..

While i was playing an online game my xbox froze so i then turned it off. after i turned it back on it said that i had nothing downloaded at all. so i tried downloading a few games again but that didn't work because i needed to redownload a system update but when i tried to it gave me a system error. so i just need to know if i should reformat my HDD because it still says that im using 95gb but nothing is showing up..

When you scroll over to System then Settings and finally Storage, what does it say for your hard drive?  It might be an issue with the drive itself in which case a reformat may work or you may have to get a new hard drive entirely.

A storage device (such as a memory unit or hard drive) was not found during the software update. Follow these steps:

  1. Turn off your console.
  2. Remove all console storage devices, including any USB flash drives, external hard drives or the internal hard drive on the Xbox 360 S console. Learn how to remove the hard drive.
  3. Add your primary storage device, for example, the hard drive.
  4. Turn on the console
  5. Try updating the console again.
