Some potentially disturbing news has just been brought to our attention. It seems that Microsoft's Xbox Live security systems may not be all that they're cracked up to be. Following the launch of the Rezurrection DLC for Call of Duty Black Ops last month, there has been a sharp increase of people having their consoles banned by Microsoft for "Marketplace Theft".

As some of you may well be aware, Microsoft refuse to discuss the nature of any console bans with users, meaning that there are more than a handful of people out there without the use of their console for online play right now. The interesting thing is that we have heard from an Xbox Live support employee that Microsoft are aware of the issue. The problem is a glitch affecting a small percentage of people who downloaded the Rezurrection DLC, causing their machine to be flagged for theft, and therefore banned from the Xbox Live Network.

These are not necessarily people who have modded their machines or done anything underhanded, but who simply downloaded a piece of DLC offered online at a cost. We have been in touch with Microsoft and are awaiting an official line on this, however due to the fact that it seems support workers are being told not to enter into any discussions on this subject with customers, since Microsoft apprarently don't want to go public with the problem until they have reached a resolution

We'll keep you up to date with any response we get as soon as possible.

I have heard so much things about these bans. What are your thoughts. PS3 received a update today and the Xbox 360 is pending for theirs to go live.

Hey, if you were banned visit this website and follow its instructions. <xboxban.blogspot.com/.../microsoft-xbox-console-bans.html>

File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Post and repost this link. You have to fight Microsoft through the proper channels, and they won't fix this problem unless thousands of us do this.

Pass it on.

If your console has been suspended, it is due to a gross violation of the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use or Code of Conduct identified by the Xbox LIVE Policy and Enforcement team. This thread has now been locked, as this is not open for discussion on the Xbox Support forums.
