Lags over lags.

Hello!

I've been having my Xbox for some time now and I bought a year of Xbox Live Gold a few months ago. I have tried so many things now, but I still don't know how to get rid of those frustrating lags. It's really no fun to play like that.

I'll try to answer some of the questions that have been suggested in one of the stickies:

What Country/State/Province do you live in? Austria, Linz
Modem brand & model number: **** Touchstone® TM722G DOCSIS® 3.0Telephony Modem
Router brand & model number: NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless Router WPN824 (I tried it without the router by directly connecting to the modem, didn't help, but I only played one game against a guy from Barbados, so maybe that doesn't count.)
Network Connection Type: Wired

Things you have tried:
Is UPnP Enabled? Unknown (I didn't receive any error messages, it's just very slow)
Is NAT Type Open? Unknown
Any Error Codes you encounter: None.
What type of internet do you have? Cable. Speedtest says 16 mbits download, 1 upload.(Provider says 30 down, 1 up).
Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)? Liwest
After you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" and click on "More info", what is the exact message shown on screen?
First of all, the test runs kinda smoothly, everything is "connected". But then there are those weird codes.

W: 0000-0008
X: 0000-F001
Y: 20A8-4840
Z: 0000-0000
ID: FFFF-FFFF

Any clues?

I may add that the Xbox is directly wired to the modem and that the cable is very short.

An update:

Is UPnP Enabled? Yes.

Is NAT Type Open? It now is.

Also, I've created a static IP for my Xbox and opened some ports in the router settings.

Now the report has changed to this:

W: 0000-0008

X: 0000-000D

Y: 20A8-4800

Z: 0000-0000

Hello, I have the same problem. I have the netgear too and the test is correct but the  status report  says:

W: 0000-000B

X: 0000-F001

Y: 20A8-4840

Z: 0000-0000

ID: FFFF-FFFF

and it goes with lag even when I am host  (gears of war ).I've opened the ports and I've disabled wireless network ,and although goes better, it still goes bad .

does the report is normal?

Well those stats look good to me. So a direct connection to the modem didn't help either?

No, not really. Is it possible that maybe the modem is crappy?

I've tried to play against many people, some from the states (even Barbados & Japan), yes, but the majority was from Europe (Italy, France, Spain, Germany). When I was playing with Europeans, it was better, but really far away from a decent online gaming experience.

I don't know if it's appropriate to discuss this in here or if this is even worth mentioning, but the Wii games I play online run smoothly (wireless connection, dynamic IP, etc.).

Here's a list of games I've been trying to play online that were lagging. Some of them seem to be known for having problems with lags during online play:

- Pro Evolution Soccer ('09, '10, '11)

- Smackdown vs. Raw ('10, '11)

- Topspin 4

- GTA IV

Games that run smoothly or at least don't lag much:

- Battlefield 1943 (Arcade)

- Kinect Adventures

I have a few other games which provide multiplayer gaming, is it worth trying them out or is this a dead end?
