Keep getting disconnected from Xbox Live

This was always a big problem for me back when I had D-link DSL-2640R. I thought it was the end of that when I had recently got echolife hg532, but since yesterday it has started again. It keeps disconnecting me from xbox live every 10-20 minutes. I have tried a wireless and wired connection but the problem keeps happening. My NAT type is open and I have tried many times restarting the router but is making no difference.

Will I need to be using wireless or wired for this to work, or will either do?

Either. Also, try clearing the system cache (it's just updates plus other temporary files, nothing that's at all important to anyone) by:

1) Tap the silver Xbox Guide button on the controller, go right 2 clicks to Settings, pick System Settings.

2) Select Storage (or Memory).

3) Move over any hard drive or memory unit (not the Cloud) & press (Y) on your controller & pick Clear System Cache.

4) When asked to confirm storage device maintenance, choose Yes.

I've tried both suggestions given here, but I am still being disconnected. Looking through different threads I can see that other people maybe having the same problem, is there something up with Xbox Live at the minute?

Will it happen with Laptops (stream something longer than 10-20 minutes)...

Will it happen if wired?

Have you noticed it happens with wet/high moisture weather (might be a grounding issue with your ISP at your location)

Have you run speedtest (example speedtest.net)

It seems to be only happening with the Xbox, as I am having no problems with my PS3 or Laptop.

I have tried a wried connection multiple times, it made no difference.

try resetting the router back to default setting which can be done either through router maintenance page or on the back of the route you will find a pin hole where you hold that down for 10-20secs and that will re set it iv had to do this a few times before and now it does not effect the Xbox :) hope this helps

Hey S7 x ShaneOKane! Can you please run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" press “Y” for "More Info”. From the pop-up that appears, can you tell us the values you receive? This will help us get a better idea of the connection issue at hand. :)
