Just bought Gold membership online and it says my account is not gold subscribed on xbox.

So I bought a 12 month GOLD account for £39.99 online about 10 minutes ago. I turned my xbox off and back on, hoping the settings would update, but as soon as I try to connect to a match online, it says I am not a gold member..

Why is this? And will this update very soon?

When you buy gold on the website vs. the console, there is a delay before the console will recognize it. It can take hours to update, but to speed up the process you can try either testing your connection or recovering your account.
