Joining Xbox Live

We tried to add live to a local Xbox profile, which resulted in the error 8015401D. When I tried to log onto said account online (which SHOULD be this account) it shows up with no achievements. We haven't redownloaded the profile because I assume this means the gamerscore will be reset. What do?

Hey sorry to hear about the error troubles. Let's see what we can do.

If you get this message and error code, it means that there is a problem with the information in your profile. For example, the gamertag that you typed may already be in use.

Also, what is the GT in question? 

To resolve this issue, verify the information in your profile, and try using a different gamertag when you try to join Xbox Live again

The GT is rockerliz016. We tried other GTs as suggested by the KB relating to 8015401D. We also changed every other piece of information for the sake of completeness. I even tried making everything zeros just because. None of this made any difference.

Thank you for the info.  

I just took a look into that account, and it does look like it is lacking information. For example, all zeros would not be a proper phone number. 

Have you tried setting everything up properly with your info? Also, what were the other GT's you tried? 

Let us know, and we can go from there.

I tried the zeros *after* using several different versions of correct info... It gave the same error when it was not lacking anything. I just didn't bother to change that field back since it obviously didn't matter.

Anyway, we also tried rockerliz3342 and rockerliz16.

Ok, good to know. How exactly are you trying to add Gold? Have you tried adding it both on your console, as well as Xbox.com?

That's not the problem. I can't even join Live, never mind add a Gold membership. I did try adding the Gold membership on the Xbox as well as joining Live on the Xbox but they both produce the same error. When I signed onto Xbox.com with the idea of using my card online, it automatically created this account (I didn't sign up or anything). But this account doesn't show up as linked on the Xbox nor does it show my achievements online. So I feel like adding a Gold membership online would be a quick way to lose 30 dollars thanks to whatever error is occurring.
