Joining XBox Live with second (managed) account

During Xbox live setup, I receive a message as the parent that my region doesn't match the region of the account I am trying to setup for my son. I have changed my region in my email which is linked to my account and I have changed the region on my Xbox 360 as best I know how. Is the region a hardware issue? I have had the account forever (since we lived in the U.S.) but now we live in Brazil. When I try to connect with my sons account it gives me a region message.

Specifically it asks to check the region and try again.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The region is associated to the region you set when you created the account. When you say you changed the region on your 360 the best you know how, did you use the account migration tool? It is possible to migrate your account to Brazil.
