It says it can't authorize my payment option.

I'm using a debit card and added all the information correctly, but it keeps popping up the same message. I'm doing this on my Xbox 360, not online, but I want the special offer of that 3-month 50% off with 800MS, and as far as I know, I can't do that here. No option to do that.

I've used other accounts before with the same card, but I've taken the card info off  the other account and it still shows the same pop up. The bank I use also showed no problems. What am I doing wrong?!

@ximerx: If you have tried multiple cards, perhaps there is something amiss with your account. Please contact phone support (support.xbox.com/contact-us) and see if they can help you sort it out.

I am having the same issues as described by the OP.  I left the country for a month and when I came home my xbox was telling me that the saved cards on my account were invalid. Since then I've tried to disassociate then re-enter the cards already on my account.

Both online at live.xbox.com and through my console I received the same error that my card is invalid. I've tried 5 different cards, from 5 different banks. Two of these cards used to work prior to August 2011 and they are still valid. Nothing on my billing name/address has changed and yes, all information I'm entering is correct.

Furthermore, I've had 2 lengthy conversations with Phone support members and all they tell me is that there's nothing they can do and refer me to the bank. I have called the bank for the original two cards on the account and they both see nothing wrong with the cards.

Something went wrong on my account while I was out of the country and now it is tremendously hampering my ability to enjoy my Xbox. I'm not happy going to third party companies for Gold memberships and microsoft points whenever I need them. I also have no way of downloading games which can only be purchased using cash.

Yes, like I said, I verified it all, several times in fact. I've had absolutely no problems before in my other accounts, and they have all the same info down to the letter and number. They've worked perfectly and I've never seen it say that my number was not valid. And no, there is no other option for me in payment method in getting that advertisement deal. They need a credit card. It's a very sad situation I know.....

Like the sticky post outlines, there is more to verifying than just the number. Address, matching names and regions, security code. Can you try adding a different payment method?

Yes, I actually already did all that it said in that guide. I want to just restart with making a whole new payment option, but it's not letting me. I can only use a credit card since the offer on the xbox only allows that. So no possibility of using paypal. However whenever I try to make the new payment method it keeps saying to use a valid credit card number. It is exactly my credit card number. I can't use another. How is this possible when I've reviewed everything to be entirely correct like my billing information.
