Issue Installing Update

While playing a game on Xbox LIVE (Call of Duty: Black Ops II, to be exact), my Xbox froze. Naturally, I restarted my console, only to find that all of my profiles, games, apps, everything downloaded to my Xbox internal hard drive was gone. Then a message appeared, explaining that there was a system update, which failed to install. I've tried every solution and nothing seems to be working.

Hey Kejsumaru,

A few things come to mind:

  1. Are you able to connect using a wired connection directly to your console from your router/modem?
  2. Do you know if your storage (HD) has free space on it?
  3. Do you have a storage (HD) connected to your console?

Thanks in adavance.

I was able to install the update with a USB flash drive (the old one I used was corrupted or something), but I lost all my profiles and downloadable content. When I try to redownload my profile, the following message pops up:

Sorry, Xbox LIVE profiles can't be downloaded right now. Try again later

The new error code means you could have a corrupted profile. Go to your HD and delete any profile that shows up with a yellow exclamation mark, then re-download the profile.

Hello there!

Try clearing your system cache, 3 times exactly! And then re-start your console. Also, try going to the storage section of the dashboard and then press LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X
It will then ask you if you want to delete the system update. Select Yes and it will delete then re-download the system update.
If that doesn't work have a look at Mister Gwyther's solution page! And see if that helps resolve your issue.

Hope this helps!
Kind regards,
Link.

this is exactly what happened to my console. i have just bought a new xbox and transferred my stuff to a new harddrive and got the update but now my xbox runs incredibly slow. i am still able to play games but here are a list fo things that are happening since the update on my new and old harddrive.

Problemz:

Slow start up, xbox logo freezing

seemingly infinite pin wheel when loading content

disc take 15-30 seconds to start up

xbox live sign takes 1 minute or more

guide menu in xbox live takes a minute to display messages friens etc.

friends list pictures dont load

dashboard content takes too long to load (5 minutes or more)

memory in system settings takes long to load.

xbox is unresponsive when pressing back on gudie menu and other interface pop up windows

there are probably other issue but because my xbox freezes so frequently i cant even get to them

basicallly its like my harddrive is super loaded when in reality i just got a new one, transferred from the old and still have 70gb left on it. i dont think its my games if i can load up a game. and ive delted any corrupted looking files as well as files i dont need. if someone could point to me as to why the update has caused this issue then i honestly will paypal you $500 worth of bacon. but in all seriousness i have no intention of loosing my game saves on my harddrive because of some damn update.
