Is my Xbox One defective?

I am having serious issues with my xbox one. I don't know is this is common, or if my console is defective. I bought a day one edition console, and it works sometimes (I assume there will be problems at launch). However, my Xbox One NEVER is able to sign into my account without me disconnecting my internet and my console and then restarting it (and even then it only fixes the problem 50% of the time). My Xbox also has moments where I click on an app and nothing happens etc. HERE IS A LIST OF MY PROBLEMS:

  • Cannot sign into any profiles (error codes)
  • black screens
  • Apps don't show up at all occasionally 
  • Xbox passes connection test, but still says I am not connected to internet
  • Occasional moments where I get kicked back to the Home screen
  • Controller doesn't connect to system sometimes
  • Titanfall crashed the whole system for me yesterday

From this list, the two biggest things are me not being able to sign into my account and not being able to access any apps (including settings). I also can't connect to Internet, even though my internet works fine with everything else. 

Yes I've done both hard and soft resets but it doesn't help. 

DO I have a defective console, or is this experience common for all xbox one owners? 

P.S. I have a Comcast Gateway router/modem, but am swapping that out for a separate Router and modem to see if that helps. I would like to know if this is just a failure of MS' xbox one, before sending mine in for no reason.

Both mine and my roommates X1's seem to have most of those issues also... Although we can usually sign in. I found mine harder to sign into when I have a passkey assigned to the profile

Also, Anyone have the problem where you click on an app and nothing happens, you just hear the "sound" when you click something and you can press it 50 times and still nothing happens?

@Lost Shinobi628 It doesn't always happen. The signing in problem happens pretty much always now. But the other issues are of and on.

How do you have your sign in set up? Does it go thru the Kinect seeing you or do you manually select it. Also do you use a pass key or password with your sign in?

@Lost Shinobi628 My Kinect is on auto-sign in. It has a hard time reading my face anyways, but when it does, or when reads someone else's face it will say "Please sign in using a controller." Then I do that and it darkens the screen for a bit, then the circle spins for a while before getting an error code.

When I sign in offline it seems to sign me in, this is why I am wondering if it a connection problem behind my issues.

I heard the Gateway that Comcast gives you isn't very good, and doesn't work well with the Xbox or Apple products. This is why I am getting a new Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 router and a Motorola Surfboard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem in the mail.

My xbox one doesn't want to read disk at times it takes inserting and ejecting til it works, but during this process xbox one makes a kind of grinding sound. What causing that and it can't be normal?
