IP Flood Detection

Hello, I have a feature called IP Flood Detection that I see from time to time on my Motorola Cable gateway's configuration page. While I like to keep internet security at high priority, by default my Modem's firewall is set to low. However there is a check box next to:

"Block Fragmented IP Packets"

"Port Scan Detection"

"IP Flood Detection",

Can I safely turn on IP Flood Detection without causing issues with Xbox live, to help prevent DOS attacks?

Or is there a chance that the Modem will think that data from Xbox Live is a threat?

I have tested IP Flood Detection on my Motorola SBG6580; so far there has been no problems. Whereas I have been playing multiplayer games, such as Call of Duty and GTA 5. I also have tested for packet loss on the Xbox One and on Pingtest.net and it comes clean. If anything, my connection seemed to oddly improve.
