If an old Gamertag is unused anymore is there a way for me to acquire it?

Hello everyone. I recently began looking for old gamertags that have not been used in practically years it seems, and I was curious is there anyway for me have the name on this gamertag since it is unused. For instance: The Gamertag "Arrows" Has not even as far as I can tell purchased and xbox. It was merely created and never used is there anyway for me to use this accounts name? Anyway for me to buy it from Microsoft now that they are no longer making money off of it?

Since Zune and GFWL are on the same system chances are they're in use on those services. If they're not then you'll have to wait until it's freed up. They've only just started clearing the unused GTs from the old Xbox so you could be waiting a while.

If you want a particular GT, try changing to it. If it says you can't, then you can't.

I thought they stopped freeing up original xbox gamertags because people were selling them.
