I'm also unable to connect to Xbox Live.

At first my Xbox 360 asked for my email/password for some new security update. After logging in, I kept on getting the 831188FE error and getting signed out immediately.

I decided to change my password and even enabled 2-step verification (which I later disabled, since I wasn't able to login with neither, the new password nor the code generated by my authenticator app). After that didn't work, I tried clearing my Xbox system cache and removed my profile. When trying to redownload it, I get the following error: Sorry, something's wrong with your Microsoft account. Go to https://account.live.com for help. 80151012.

Any advice to getting my profile working on my Xbox again?

If that didn't solve your problem then you will need to contact xbox support as mentioned after step 13 as if you are still getting error code 80151012 then it is an account issue what needs to be resolved by MS support.

Thanks, I'll do that. It just feels odd that the account works just fine when using Games for Windows Live (I tried that just 2 minutes ago).

To fix this error for not being able to download a profile on the Xbox 360

Login to your Microsoft account from http://account.live.com

go to the section listed as "Check Recent Activity"

Where it shows the list of recent activity click the options, look for an option to choose "That was me" and click it.

Next download your profile on the 360.

Worked for me today after all other steps listed failed.
