I upgraded to gold but I'm still silver

I recently upgraded to gold via xbox.com but when signed into Xbox LIVE on my console, I'm silver. Can anyone help? I have waited hours for it to activate but nothing so far. I really need some proper assistance and advice.

When you purchase on the website vs. the console, it creates this delay. To speed up the process either test your connection or recover your account.
