I keep getting disconnected.

Ok so what happens is, when i first sign on, it give me about 2 mins to get disconnected the first time.

Then If i join a party or start searching for a game (multiplayer) it disconnects me again.

 

This repeats about 3-6 times before actually working properly.

 

Here are the results of what happens when i run xbox live connection.

Network - Connected

Internet - Connected

Xbox Live - Connected

 

I live in the UK, In the area North Lincolnshire.

Router brand: D-Link

Model number:DSL- 2640R 

Network Connection Type: Wireless

If Wireless, what type of encryption are you using? I dont know what that means.

Things you have tried:  Restarting. Un plugging all cables and plugging back in and restarting.

Is UPnP Enabled? Unknown

Is NAT Type Open? Yes

Any Error Codes you encounter: 

What type of internet do you have? DSL

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)?  AOL/Carphone Warehouse

When you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" what is the exact message shown on screen? No message is shown.

Hi, is it possible (as a test) to try wired to see if this is just a wireless issue?

Ok, you need to find the UPnP setting on your router and ensure its enabled. I think it might be in the Advanced LAN menu on your router

  • Has this been working ok in the past on this router? If so when did this issue start to happen
  • Has anything changed on your set-up recently?
  • Does it disconnect you even if you are just on the dashboard (i.e. not in a game)
  • Have you tried a different Ethernet cable?
  • When you disconnect to any of the lights on the router change colour, especially the Internet light?
  • What is the MTU setting configured for on your router?

Yes it has been working fine it started happening about 2 months after i got the router, but it was only a occasional disconnect,

if im in a party with others at the dahsboard yes it disconnects.

I have tried numerous ethernet cables.

Nope it only disconnects from xbox nothing more. the computer im using currently works fine.

Well AOL have their own custom firmware usually on their routers but the menus are hopefully the same, do you have a screen like this:-
