I cant connect to xbox live via PC, help!

i recently moved, so my carrier At&t sent me a new modem, same model as the old one but a new box, i dont know why, but i set it up and it works fine, its in the living room, but both my PC using a USB receiver and wifi laptop can connect to the internet just fine, but my xbox cant find my router's IP address for some reason.

i run windows 7 on my PC, and have the 360 hardwired to the PC with a standard ethernet cable, i've tried both "sharing" and "bridging" methods but i keep getting the same error "cant find the IP address from your router, restart it and wait 30 secs" i've been doing this for past 2 days with no luck, i even tried a different ethernet cable with no success. i tried manually entering the IP, subnet mask, and primary DSN server, then tried automatic by setting to factory settings, i have no idea what im doing wrong, i have the same equipment except for the modem as i did in my old house, and i got connected to live by bridging without problems back then.

can anyone point me in the right direction please ?
