I can't turn off auto renewal because Windows Live doesn't recognize my computer apparently

I need to turn off auto renewal and I cannot do so because apparently, my computer is unrecognized. It's going to delete my computer from the system on the 20th of this month, but why is this needed to turn off auto renewal? Why didn't Microsoft realize that people reinstall windows of their machines? Why are certain parts of support unavailable because of this? Why is the support line closed on Saturday at quarter to 8 when it says it closes at 8?

Why does it seem that the cancellation process is designed to go out of its way to make it so that by the time I cancel my subscription, it's too late and the money has already gone out?
