I can't get past the security thing to get into live. Code 80048821

Iv'e been trying fix this all day; I don't get on Live vey much because I don't have it so every time I want an update or dlc I take it over to my cousins house. Well today I had to do that thing where you have to put in the E-mail and password. After trying forever to remember it since I haven't used it sense the xbox came out I put it in and it says this, "Sorry, either that's the wrong password, or the email you entered doesn't have an xbox live membership. Code 80048821"

I've tried changing the password, clearing the cache, looking at other answers, signing into the Microsoft account instead of xbox.com, updating my info and nothing works. After I tell the xbox to remember my password it goes: Bloop, you have signed into xbox live, then the error pops up giving me the message. Why can't I get in, I've tried the moderators awnsers before and that doesn't work.

PS. I can trick the system into updating the games by staying signed out and then signing in when the game tells me to online. It updates but then I can't get back online.

Microsoft Accounts now require 'proof' data, to allow you to 'prove' who you are using 'Two-Factor Verification'. This is wise given that off-the-shelf hardware and easily found open source software can crack passwords in very little time (see http://arstechnica.com/security/2012/12/25-gpu-cluster-cracks-every-standard-windows-password-in-6-hours/ ).

So, since Microsoft is security minded and protects your account data, they added proofs to secure your account. And, since Xbox LIVE accounts are built on top of Microsoft Account security, that applies to gamers like you and me. Proofs are:

1) A phone # (preferably a cell # to text you a message - very convenient when away from home)
2) An alternate email address (which can be used to send a password reset confirmation to)
3) A 'Trusted PC' (requires Windows Vista or later + the free Microsoft Windows Live Essentials app - very optional and won't work on a Mac or Linux boxen)
4) A Security Question and Secret Answer

If you don't have these filled in, you will be required to do to, so visiting http://account.live.com/ and clicking on Edit security info is a good idea. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/liveid-wlsecurity/two-factor-authentication-tfa-what-is-a-microsoft/79321863-cf01-44f3-a181-87f531c5129e

Can you sign into your account on account.live.com

If so then update your security question only under the security details, once done clear the cache on the console and then try downloading your profile

"SUGGESTED ANSWER" Doesn't work! It just circles around again to password. XBOX's new "security" crap has rendered my son's account unusable. The is BS since I'm paying for it! He's on my account, but he has been assigned some insanely long email address that I didn't set-up and therefore don't know the password. I can't use my info to access his live account either. Another Microsoft cluster! I will continue to contact help/support, so called, in hopes that I can actually get through to someone. No luck as of yet!
