I can't connect to Xbox Live.

Here is my dilemma:

  1. I have Comcast.
  2. I have to connect my xbox to my laptop using an Ethernet cable for internet access.
  3. My connection gets cut every now and then.
  4. When I try to get back online, everything connects except Xbox Live.
  5. Why is this happening?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hey there RGC!
Do you experience the same issue even with the Xbox disconnected?
If you have setup your console to the computer using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) try bridge instead. Here's how!

What is the make&model of your modem/router?

Hello

I would suggest you to try out this fix:

1) Goto System Settings.

2) Select Storage.

3) On your Primary Storage Device Press the 'Y' Button.

4) Select 'Clear System Cache'

5) Wait for it to Clear...

6) Now attempt to Sign in.

7) You should stay signed in.

Here is one More Possible Fix:

1) Goto System Settings and Select 'Storage'.

2) Click the Storage device that Contains your Profile.

3) Goto your profile and press 'A'.

4) Click Delete Profile. It Will then ask 'Delete Profile Only' or 'Profile and Items'.

5) Select 'Delete Profile Only'

6) Once deleted press the Xbox Guide Button(Middle of Controller/ Big Green X)

7) Make sure you are signed out of all profiles and click 'Download Profile'

8) Enter all your Windows Live Credentials when It asks you too.

9) Wait for it to download

10) Once Downloaded you should be able to Sign-in to XBOX LIVE.

try this solution to get the network settigns back to its default state:

1)Turn off your Xbox 360 console.

2)Wireless connection only: Unplug the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter from the USB port (if applicable).

3)Turn on your console.

4)Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.

5)Select Network Settings.

6)Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network, if you are prompted to do so.

7)Select Configure Network.

8)On the Additional Settings tab, select Restore to Factory Defaults.

If all of those doesnt work i would suggest you to use this link to help you find a solution:

Try out all of these and the problem should be resolved.

I'll try a bunch of these and go back to you. As to the first poster, I've already set up my laptop the way it should be but thanks for answering.

Is it a possibility that I couldn't connect because XBL was down for some guys? I saw Halo Waypoint's tweet about XBL coming back up and running. I played Reach before logging out. Nevertheless, give me a few minutes to try these troubleshoot options.

Are you using a mobile network? If not, are you able to connect the Xbox directly to the router? Could you specify how you've setup your MacBook’s Airport connection to share the internet connection to your Xbox?

If you reset your Xbox network settings to the defaults then you have have to re-enter those values you manually put in. There have been known that the personal firewall on Mac can cause NAT issues. You may want to disable your personal firewall. System Preferences > Security > Firewall.

Post back and let us know how it goes.

Just out of curiosity, is your router/switch in a position where you can temporarily connect your 360 to it directly to see if you experience the same issues?

Here's how its setup...

I connect my Xbox to my MacBook Pro through an ethernet cable. I have set the proper numbers and settings on both machines. I have no firewall. No, I can't connect my xbox to the modem or the wall plug because its too far and the house isn't set up for it.

I've tried resetting the numbers on my xbox but nothing. I can connect to the internet on my xbox but not Xbox Live. Please guys, I really need legitimate help.
