How to connect to Xbox Live with account created on computer

Hi,

I bought my xbox (250gb) with kinect earlier this week.  I have had a few problems with connecting which I won't bore you with, as seem to be resolved now.  However, during these issues, I created my xbox live account vis my computer.  I now want to sign into that account with my xbox, but the only option I can find is to "Join now" which the system thinks I want to create a new account.  If I use my log in details it tells me that there is another gamertag with those details, and to use a different email address etc.

How can I sign in using my existing acct?

If you are having issues connecting to xbox live please check the following:

>Check your internet connection (wired is plugged in and wireless is detectable)

>Run xbox live test connection.

>Check you NAT Type.

>Reset Connection.

>Check your WPA Security key, some issues occur when your ip settings are not on automatic

>Check Xbox Live Status if its up and running support.xbox.com/.../troubleshoot

If further issues occur contact xbox support via online chat or phone

Recover gametag solution worked - thanks Callumpy :-)

Still having random connection problems.  It seems I cannot connect via Xbox if I am already logged onto the network via Computer (?).  Going to explore some more, and maybe try some of the suggestions from ZeroThunder.

Thanks for your support.  May be back with another topic if I get stuck !!
