Greetings Deaken - What you will need to do is turn off Auto Renewal to Redeem the Pre-Paid Code. Also remove the Bank Card from the Site you can only do this if it's not tied to your Subcription that use to pay with your Bank Card.   Information is here - http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/billing-and-subscriptions/subscription-management/cancel-xbox-live-gold-subscription

Hope this Helps.

You would need to first turn off automatic renewal, wait until the XBOX Live Subscription is over, remove the credit / debit card on file and then add the prepaid card. That would be the best way to go about doing what you'd like to do.

You do not have to turn off auto renewal to redeem the card. Redeem the code and the next time your account is set to renew it will renew as the prepaid subscription from the card/code. Once that expires it will start renewing from your bank account again. At any time you can turn off auto renew or add more time with prepaid cards (You can stack up to 36 months of prepaid time).

I didn't stipulate that he had to do that to add the prepaid card. It's best to do it that way if he wants to avoid getting charged a fee again and have his account over drafted if he forgets about his membership after his yearly portion is up.

It depends what exactly Deaken3 wants to do. Does he just want to put the 12 month Code on and have it renew normally when that runs out? If so then he doesn't have to do anything other than redeem the code.

If he does not want that then simply turn off Renewal and redeem the code.

If he wants the card removed then he'll either have to wait until the current sub finishes after turning off Renewal, then remove the card. Or call support and have them do it for you.

Easy! :)

@OP - disregard sevendead's advice.  The auto renewal does indeed need to be turned off.  If you leave it on then it will auto renew every month and keep pushing your prepaid card back.

I have been told previously that adding a pre-paid card pushes the auto-renewal back and not the other way around.

@onyx621is That's not correct man. If he was to put the Pre-Paid Card on now and not turn off the renewal it wouldn't renew until the 12 months was up so how could it push the PPC back? Unless I'm misunderstanding you?

Again you do not actually have to turn off Renewal to use a PPC, you'll only be delaying the renewal by length of time your putting on.

But most people prefer to turn it off then use the PPC's.

Its all personal preference.

Then please explain to me about the people who are in the rewards program who add a 12 month card while they have an auto renew on.  They will get points for the auto renew but not for the pre paid card.

Of course, the OP is certainly welcome to leave the auto renew option on and then post back here at the end of the month to tell us if he got charged or not.
