Help!!!

I have quite a predicament...I updated my Xbox yesterday so it's all snazzy. I tried playing this original Xbox game called dark alliance 2. It claimed: this original Xbox game is not supported on your console. Support my be available. So here I am. But here is the catch...it worked on my friends Xbox who haas the same update as me. I also have a free Xbox live account...can anyone solve my issue? My console and Xbox are both white, and I don't have a wireless adaptor or wired one either....so confused..

Those didn't really help. Do I need to pay money for an Xbox live account in order for my console to be compatable?

Question: Have you got an official hard drive plugged into your console ie one of these - www.amazon.co.uk/.../ref=sr_1_3 - or the Slim equivalent if you're using one of them? A quick browse of the Wikipedia list also shows that DA2 isn't playable in 60Hz mode in PAL regions. If you're in a PAL region set your console to display in 50Hz.

Yes, i do. The games i'm trying to play are on the list of Xbox compatable games...(at least on this website, they are displayed) And what's a PAL region? And if i happen to be in one, how would i set my console to a display in 50Hz?

Oh. So i looked up what PAL was...and...no...i'm not in a PAL region. according to google, i'm in a NTSC region. Do i need to do anything special for that?

Depends which NTSC region you're in. If you're based in the States then the only other thing I could think of to try is to switch off the widescreen and see if that gets it (system settings > console settings > display > widescreen). If you're in based in Japan (the other NTSC region) then DA2 won't work period. The BC list for anyone else who wants to see - en.wikipedia.org/.../List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360

Not completely screwed but I'd be at a complete loss as to what else you could try. Tis a strange problem.

sigh......i hate being so clueless. I have a flashdrive, is it possible for me to download something onto the flashdrive, transfer it over to my xbox that will let my older games work? I have the 2012 update, but do i need the previous updates for it to allow my originial xbox games to work?

Wait you haven't got one of those hard drives I linked to earlier (this www.amazon.co.uk/.../ref=sr_1_3 or this for the Slim - www.amazon.co.uk/.../ref=sr_1_1 )?

There's your problem right there. The emulator for ye olde Xbox games is stored on those Hard Drives and ye olde Xbox games need those hard drives because they were built with the old internal hard drive for the old console in mind. No hard drive = no emulator = no BC games playing.
