If you are talking about switching hard drives no you will not get in trouble for that, people do it all the time. Just remember to use a flash drive or transfer cable to move your stuff from your old hard drive to your new and transfer licenses.

Hi there,

if you switch the the original Microsoft hard drive that suits your xbox360 console all should be fine and no change of being banned.

Check this link on information on the Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drives: support.xbox.com/.../storage

I think people are misunderstanding this question.

I do believe he is asking can he put an original xbox360 hdd into a newer model xbox360, this is possible being they both use a SATA connection, but it is not ok for you to do. opening the hdd to remove the hard drive itself will void your warranty. and always opening an xbox or anything attached to it should only be done by an official xbox service provider.

so in short terms you will need to buy an new/ or used official hdd just to be safe and not void yourself of further assistance if needed on your xbox.

You can upgrade your hdd by buying an hdd with more memory and using a transfer cable to move your data to the new hdd. To the best of my knowledge, this is not something you can get banned over since upgrading your hdd is a common thing to do. It should not matter that you have a special edition.
