Help please.

Erm, I don't really know where to start with this. I've just turned my Xbox on shortly after getting home. Ive been out of the house for about 4 - 5 hours and when the console turns on it comes up with like a green start screen with nothing on it. First of all I tried recovering my Gamer Tag and it says "Cant save your profile on the selected storage device. Please make sure the device is inserted correctly and has enough free space, and then try again". Now I don't have an external storage device, my XBox is the newest model with the hard drive built in & I also have, according to my XBox, 12.9 GB free of space, but this shouldnt matter anyway as this is my original gamertag, Ive been using it since I bought the XBox.

The only other thing I can think of is my Xbox Live renewal is up on the 20th, im wondering if this has anything to do with it, but I doubt it will do. Also as you can see, ive logged onto this website with my Gamer Tag, so im stumped as to what the problem is.

So yeah, any help would be appreciated thanks!
