Help me understand this...please

It's annoying to have to ask this, but hopefully I can get some help...

I do not want to have Xbox Gold any longer.

However, I am subscribed through a pre-paid card until mid to late September. So I would like to get the service that I have paid for in the mean time.

Auto-renewal is OFF after more than an hour plus some pressure on the phone with Xbox support a few months ago.

My problem is this: there IS a debit card on file for my account, even though I paid using a pre-paid card. I cannot remove this debit card from my account for some reason, it won't let me do that because I still have an account (not sure why that matters, but OK...)

The debit card in question expires on 9/1/11. I have a new card to replace it, with a new number and expiration date. My fear is that if I do not enter the NEW information, they will suspend my account, but if I *DO* enter the NEW information, they will try to put auto-renew on again!

What can I do? I deserve to get the rest of my time which has already been paid for, but when it expires I WANT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can't remove the card from the payments option here at Xbox.com, simply phone support again and ask them to remove it for you. Then add the new one later or just continue to buy pre-paid cards.

If your profile now shows auto-renewal as Off (adjust the link for your locale if it isn't the U.S.),

https://live.xbox.com/en-US/Flows/ManageSubscription/ChooseSubscription.aspx

then they won't try to renew your subscription after the pre-paid membership ends. Once your account is "free" (formerly Silver), you can remove the old debit card from your account.

Ok, let me try again, let me be more clear.

1. Auto-renewal is off.

2. Thank god, because I'm done with Xbox live. I DO NOT WANT TO BUY ANY MORE PRE-PAID CARDS NOR HAVE AN ACCOUNT.

3. Still, my Xbox live account is paid for until late September, so I would like to use it until then.

4. But the DEBIT card tied to my account is set to expire on September 1.

5. My understand is that my account will be suspended on September 1, even though I have more pre-paid card time left on it.

6. However, if I put in the new details to my card, it will turn auto-renewal back on, won't it?

So what do I do?

if auto-renewal is turned off and you are paying with a prepaid card then you're credit card will not be charged...and your account cannot be suspened if you're paying with a prepaid card-- once your sub is up (with the prepaid card) then remove your credit card-- your new credit card would not need to be on xbox live if you don't want it to be. i read these directions on the forum like a month ago. :)

If you're only using that debit card to purchase MS Points, you gold subscription should end in September, and not renew.
