Help, can't connect to Xbox Live with my profile through my 360. Code: 80151011

For the past few days I've been unable to access my Xbox Live profile that has a Gold Membership. I've been using it for years but it's recently asked for my email and password for my Microsoft account. I've changed my password for my Microsoft account (that affects my Xbox Live password, right?) and it still won't let me sign in.

The message it brings up is "Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Code: 80151011"

Before it said that my password was incorrect, even when it asked if I wanted it remembered. Ever since I've gotten my new password, it displays that  message, though. There's no way I'm giving up this profile so what can I do to use it? Thanks in advance.

Try going to http://www.live.com and signing in and checking your proofs from there. You can save and update your Security Proofs from the web site. I hope that helps.

You will want to sign in to http://account.live.com, then update your proofs by selecting "Edit security info". After that, delete your profile on the Xbox, clear system cache, and then redownload your profile.

You should be connected to Xbox Live after that when you sign in!

No, you won't. It's all saved on Xbox's servers. Be sure to follow those instructions to delete your profile and delete profile ONLY when you do it.

No offense, but it's kinda hard to trust only one user saying this with a 3 star "rank" on their profile. Sorry.

Anyone else have any info?

If you haven’t already, start by adding security proofs like phone numbers, alternate email addresses, and security questions and answers to your Microsoft account. This information is crucial to ensure that your account is well protected and meets the security standars that Microsoft now provides.

When this information has been added and updated, we can now start focus on the next steps, remove your profile, clear Xbox system cache and finally, recover your profile from LIVE.

Important: Before you remove your profile from the storage device you have to know your Microsoft account and password.

How to delete Xbox LIVE profile safely

  2. Select Storage.
  3. Select All Devices.
  4. Select Gamer Profiles.
  5. Select the gamertag that you want to delete.
  6. Select Delete.
  7. Select Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements.

Clear Xbox system cache

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
  2. Select Storage or Memory.
  3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller.
  4. Select Clear System Cache.
  5. Important: Clear your Xbox system cache 3 times in row.

Restart your console.

Just for the record, a "3-Star Ranking" doesn't mean anything other than the account was created on a PC and not a Console. Prime example: Mister and Miss accounts have 3-Star ratings, and I'm pretty sure I'm trustworthy. =P

When in doubt, keep an eye out for official xbox.com support links like Hakko Tenshi provided. If it's in an official support link, you can trust it. ^_^
