HDMI Question

I have the new "slim" console and was wondering....  now that it has the HDMI port can I just use that to connect to my HDMI port on the flat screen?  In the past w/ older consoles you needed 5 cables for video and audio.  Will the HDMI cable now transfer video and audio or will i still need to get the audio adapter and run more cables for sound.  Thanks for the help.

HDMI cables carry both audio and video. You do not need any extra cables.

A HDMI cable will carry both Audio and Video signal.

However if you want to have surround sound, you will need to get the official HDMI bundle as it comes with an audio adapter which lets you connect your audio to a surround sound system. You can get a third-party one, but they are not as reliable as the official one.

well if he has a home theater AV unit that has HDMI switching he just needs 2 cables one to go from the 360 to the TV and one to go from the from the AV unit to the TV (that is how I have my audio set up).

Since the OP has the 360S, the audio adapter isn't necessary: the 360S has a built-in optical audio output, which can be connected to a receiver or other surround sound system. (Multichannel surround sound is carried over HDMI as well but most TVs don't do much with it, and often only pass through 2-channel stereo from the TV's output.)
