HDMI cable wont let my controller connect?

I had just gotten a microsoft HDMI cable to upgrade my xbox 360 from the old Green, Blue, and Red prongs.  I have been using it for about a week, and it has worked great.  But last time i tried to get on to my xbox, my controller wouldnt connect.  Everytime i try to resync it the system and controller just flash and it wont assign the controller a spot.  Also, becuase of the new HDMI cable, the screen wont even turn on untill a controller has been connected :\  I tried everything from turning off my tv, because i hear that can block the signal of the controller; i unplugged everything including the hardrive and put them all back in with no luck, but THEN I unplugged my HDMI cable and used my old 3 prong cable and it CONNECTED!!!  I assume the cable is the cause of the problem then, but WHY?  I have been using it just fine for the past few days.  Has it gone bad?  Is it interfereing?  Is it becuase i had my ps3 and xbox on at the same time becuase thier right next to eachother?  HELP!!!  and thank you in advance for any advice you give me (and the others reading this becuase thier are ALOT of people who seem to have this problem).

Well, to determine what the issue is, I recommend simplifying your setup as much as possible (moving the other console out of the area, removing any other wireless devices, etc.).

To be clear, the controller won't connect only when the HDMI cable is attached? If this is the case, can you try a different HDMI cable, to see if the same issue occurs again?

I had this exact same problem. Exactly as you describe. I was frustrated and astonished this could happen with my new Xbox 360 Slim. The problem could be with the "HDMI handshaking" between your TV and your XBOX.

Try this:

- Turn off your TV and your xbox 360.

- Disconnect or pull out the power cord from you TV and pull out the power cord from the external xbox power supply,/PSU.

- Make sure there are no speakers or other magnetical or systems nearby which can produce interference.

- Wait a few minutes and plug everything back in.

This solved the problem for me. When you pull out the power cords for tv and xbox you force the TV and XBOX to perform a new HDMI handshake cycle.

This tip could come too late for you, hope this helps.
