Having trouble with streaming videos.

Ever since the new update I haven't been able to watch videos on the Dashboard or on Sky player. It might not be the update, it could just be my connection but Ive never had this problem before. What happens is it just takes forever to load the video. What should I do. Talk me through it as if I was a 5 year old.
