Hard Drive Transfer issues with transfer cable

Hello, I recently decided to upgrade my harddrive by buying a 250 gb xbox 360 harddrive. I currently own a 20 gb hardrive with the original console fyi. I also have a microsoft licensed transfer cable, and took the steps to connect it all up. When i put it all together, the xbox does not automatically prompt me to transfer the data which is a problem because i am not able to transfer otherwise. Anyone have solutions.

How i have it set up: 20 gb hard drive connected to xbox....250 gb harddrive attached to tranfer cable. I also have the software disc that i put in and should make it all work...but it doesnt.

It turns out that I may have been a tad too impatient when it didnt work as soon as i plugged it in. I needed to connect to xbox live with the new hard drive and download the updates (i think the big update when the whole dashboard changed) and i am currently waiting on that to finish to see if it works. Will post later if this solved my problems
