Hard drive shows needs to be formatted.

Turned on my Xbox 360 elite today and had no profiles and apps.  Checked memory in setting section and shows hard drive need to be formatted. Attempted to format knowing that all memory would be lost. Entered console serial number and went into loading screen. It finished and still showed hard drive needs to be formatted. Is my hard drive a paper weight now or what do i need to do?

Hello HaloHawke,

Try disconnecting your hard drive and then reconnecting it to see if it solves the problem. Also, try to clear the cache on the hard drive and see if that fixes it.
