Hard Drive Questions (Original Xbox 360)

I have a few questions about the original Xbox 360's hard drive.

1.  I want to buy an official 120 GB hard drive to replace my 20 GB hard drive.  Do the 120 GB hard drives fit/work with the original Xbox 360. or just the Xbox 360 Elite consoles?

2. Is there no longer a need to use the disc that comes with the transfer kit?  I heard that an update allowed the Xbox 360 to run the transfer cable without the disc.

3. There's only one transfer cable, right?  There aren't two, one for the original Xbox 360 and one for the new Xbox 360 Slim.

4. When transfering my content from the 20 GB to the 120 GB, which way to I plug in the hard drives?  Does the new 120 GB hard drive plug into the non USB end while the original 20 GB hard drive stays connected to the console or vise versa?

all previous gen 360 hard drive works on any previous gen 360 (I had a black 120 gig elite drive attached to my arcade).  yes if you have the current dashboard then you do not need the software as it is included in the recent dash updates.  the old transfer cable is for connecting old drives to any 360 via the USB port.  there is a cable for those who want to transfer from slim to slim as the slim has an internal drive instead of the clip on drive like the old 360.  I have never transferred data from hard drives via the transfer cable so I cannot remember if the smaller drive goes on the end of the cable or not.  I hope this helps, good luck.

first you should not bump a thread that has had no posts in 3 years.  but to answer your question the biggest size hard drive that attached onto the exterior of the old 360 is 250, they came in 20, 60, 120, and 250 gig sizes, good luck.
