Hard Drive completely stopped working

I have one of those 1st generation 20 GB hard drives and it has completely stopped working.  Like 100% not working.  So If I buy a new hard drive, can I recover everything that was on my old hard drive (Achievements, Gamer profile, gamerscore, game saves, downloads, etc) to the new one.  I know I can't use a data transfer cable or a USB drive because the old hard drive is not even working.  I don't want to lose 5 years worth of gaming saved on my hard drive.  Please help.  I'm desperate.

If the drive is not working you will lose the saves that you have.  Other than that achievements (ie gamerscore) are saved on the xbox database.  Your profile can be recovered (it will probably take about 30-45 minutes to do so) and all your downloads can be accessed from your download history.
