Halo Wars 2, the FPS...RPG...MMO

My idea is, you play as a soldier (Covenant/ UNSC).

You play in first person, the twist is that you don't play a notable character, or make commands in real time like in Halo Wars, because it's an FPS. You develop your own character, that you imagine yourself being in the Halo universe.

To begin a game you must first select a species (eg. Human/ Sanghelli). Skills are aquired by performing tasks, and completing missions. Which will help you aquire new gear, training, that can then lead to bigger and better events in the Halo universe. For example, play long enough as a Marine, fighting in battles, you'll eventually become an ODST. Then you'll get ODST missions and gear. If you decide that vehicles are you preference of battle, you'll get more vehicle based missions and gear (EVA helmets, etc.)

This can definatley shape more online players into different roles, where they can contribute to bigger battles and skirmishes, away from single player modes. Instead of your standard multiplayer, where every1 is equal (spartans vs. spartans).

Single player modes may lead to bigger discoveries. Uncovering forerunner artifacts, for example, getting infected by the flood.

Does any of this appeal to any1?

yes

Sounds nice.

Bungies rumoured MMO will not be a Halo one, but I can't wait for details on it either way!

I would like to see something similar to Star Wars Battlefront, where you go to various battles and have to fight for territory control using various Halo vehicles and Soldier units.....as well as using the same style as the original Halo Wars but without the limitations they used to make it a more dumbed down Command and Conquer. Loved the original Halo Wars more because its story was outside the main Cannon story and the quality of the Cut Scenes and voice acting was superb compared with what they could have done tie in wise.

sounds like something I suggested as a possible idea for a Starship troopers game.

With squad missions etc and good and bad conduct, reward points stuff and promotion meaning access to the more over the top missions.

Probably would work better with Halo though.

Also adding to the suggestion.

A random chance (say 4% that you start as a spartan )

A rolling war cycle (say every few months the war restarts resetting stuff like ranks and no stupid weapons unlock stuff you get kit depending on what you go into)

Also add a trainning section, so it see's what your best at and tries to put you into the right group so you start and can transfer groups and don't have to work you way through grunt each time.

Sounds cool but doubt it will ever happen.

I dunno OP. Sounds like the same bare-bones foundation of every MMO ever. Do quests, get gear. Do PVP and all that stuff.

could work, its not like WOW does anything spectacular, the quests are often boring and repeat alot. I'd like to see an FPS MMO done right as it shouldn't be about unlocks etc, sure different weapons for different situations but with FPS games hit % mechanics etc aren't fun.

No no no no NO!!!! Halo wars 2 should be a new rts not an fps, the suggestions you have sound good almost like avatar but we need a new rts for xbox and halo wars is the most well suited and I don't want to see it changed to an fps I need a new rts now sox find another name for it!!!! :p

Halo Wars from what i saw was pretty meh at best as an RTS. i much prefer Brutal legend or any of the Command and conquer games

Could work, since halo 3 I lost interest in halo, wont buy 4 when it comes out will by the original one though when its come out on xbox 360.
