got a message from Xbox live inc. WHAT TO DO?

I've had my account for about four years, and received a message from X box live inc. saying they need proof of email and password because i may have corrupted files, and my account may get banned. anyway its been 4 years and haven't needed to use my email and password since and have forgotten both...

1. What should I do?

2. should i take this seriously?

Thank YOU!
