Gold memebership

Today i renewed my gold membership for 12 months online through my laptop, which has registered on my console, but it won't let me play games online, should i be getting a renewal code or anything?

When you purchase through xbox you don't get a code. Try testing your connection or recovering your account.

Recovering your account pulls your account from the Xbox servers. I would suggest testing your connection first because that shouldn't take as long and if that doesn't work, then recover your account. You can test your connection by going to System Settings, Network Settings, and then Test Xbox Live Connection.
