Gold membership problems

Okay so, I just had to pay through the website itself to get my gold membership again with new payment details since my console wasn't allowing it. So, after doing that, it shows me as a gold member on the website and apparantly to my friends online but it's not allowing me any benefits as a gold member on the console. What the hell is wrong with it? I'm pretty damn close to just smashing this accursed thing to pieces.

Anyone know the problem? I hope I haven't just spent £39.99 for NOTHING.

Right, to explain! When you purchase a subscription via it can take several hours before the profile on your console is updated, there are a number of ways to resolve this time period though:


  1. Clearing the update cache on your xbox 360
  2. Performing an xbox LIVE connection test.
  3. Recovering your xbox LIVE account.


The first option is the most efficiant as clearing the update cache will allow your console to download and refresh the latest updates from xbox LIVE, this includes refreshing your xbox LIVE profile. If you need help to do so, follow these steps:


  1. Navigate to the "My xbox" slide on the dashboard.
  2. Scroll right, to the last page which is the "System Settings" page.
  3. Select "Memory" from the list of options.
  4. Highlight your hard drive and hit Y on your controller.
  5. Select the option to clear the update cache and to perform maintenance on the memory unit.
  6. Sign out and back in. Or restart your xbox 360.
