Getting rid of the parental permission for an account after you are 18

I have an Xbox live account that is a couple of years old and i turned 18 not long ago. I created my account using my email and my own information but the Xbox console is my brother's so whenever there is an update in terms and conditions or anything that requires parental permission it asks me for his password even though our accounts are not linked. i have tried everything that i have seen in the online forums but nothing works and i have read that it is supposed to go away after i turn 18 according to my account birth date information i originally put so i don't know why i cannot get rid of it. please any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello,

That is incorrect. This does not simply go away when you turn 18. If your account age is now 18 years of age you should be able to promote your account from a child to an adult by following the directions here
