getting "The email address or password is not valid", and I'm sure it's valid account

I just bought a xbox 360, and trying to log on xbox live using my hotmail account, and then I'm getting "The email address or password is not valid." error. I'm sure it's valid account I'm using, and I've tested it on www.xbox.com by log in on PC, with no problem, even setup dolls and creadit card.

my microsoft account is [Email. Removed] - never post personal info on the forums

I'm in China, my xbox 360 console is from HK.

Please help me.

Hello,

  • Go to Manage your security info and sign in with your Microsoft account.
  • Select Add New under Phone number or under Alternate email address.
  • Follow the instructions to set up and confirm the new proof.
  • If you already have a proof on your account, you might need to use that proof to verify the addition of a new proof.

Note Proofs can be added to new accounts without validation for a short period. Existing accounts will need to have their proofs validated by using an existing proof.

  • If you’re unable to access any of your current proofs (such as a phone number you don’t recognize or an expired email account), see Get help with your Microsoft account security proofs.

I already have those information in my account. How do I verify the addition of a new proof, WHAT IS this new proof anyway?

Hey Jackson. When you add a proof, such as a phone number, it will send you a confirmation code to verify it is yours. You can refer to Italy's link to security proofs if you have any questions with that. Cheers!

So what your saying is you can sign on to xbox.com with your email and password but when you go on the xbox and use the same email and password it tells you it's incorrect?  Do you get any error codes?  I have an idea of what issue your having.   If this is what I'm thinking the steps bellow should fix this.

-

Delete your profile, clear your cache 3 times, I know it may sound silly but please do it 3 times, and then download your profile.

-

Delete Profile Safely:

Go to Settings, and then select System.

Select Storage.

Select All Devices.

Select Gamer Profiles.

Select the gamertag that you want to delete.

Select Delete.

Select Delete Profile Only.

-

Clear System Cache , don't forget to do it 3 times!:

Go to Settings, and then select System.

Select Storage.

Highlight Hard Drive, and press Y

Select Clear Cache, and press Yes.

*

Download Profile:

Push the middle button on your xbox 360 controller.

Select Download Profile.

Download, move, or delete your Xbox LIVE profile

oh, did I mention I NEVER able to load my profile on xbox? I had to creat other MS account to join the xbox live, now I'm using a whole new profile (which I set location to HK). But as my old account has an long history, I want to bind it to xbox too.

I'm guessing the issue is my long used profile is set to China location, and xbox is from HK, that may cause the issue? have to point out that I did use my old MS account to join xbox.com, long before buying xbox hardware.

Since your profile is already deleted off the console,  clear your cache 3 times then try to downloading your profile.   Look at my post above if you need the steps on how to clear your cache.

thanks all for your kindley assistant, but guess what? it didn't work out. Since my profile is not on the HD or flash, I tried clear cache on both, three times each. And still get "The email address or password is not valid." (in chinese).

Well i'm giving up now, probably will change location three months later and try again. but thanks all.
