Getting an error when trying to buy a 12 month Gold membership with my credit card

Hello. I am posting about buying xbox live gold membership with my credit card. I have tried my debit card and got an error. Removed that card and added my credit card and got an error. I know for a fact that my credit card should work and it has no restrictions. I have been in multiple live chats with xbox support and one just told me today that there's a problem and xbox live memberships don't stack right now and to add the membership on the day it expires. A previous one told me to buy a prepaid card at a store and try that. It confirmed that it was a 12 month membership card and then I go to confirm it and I got an error. I did add my credit card incorrectly with a wrong phone number that I forgot that I used my other phone for the credit card and have changed it to the correct one and I still got an error when I try to buy an 12 month xbox live gold membership with it. Thankfully my 50$ Microsoft Money card I also bought went though without a problem. (I'm trying to buy Battlefield 4 premium on the xbox one) One of the chat people removed my credit card from my account for me and I won't add it back because of the fact that I now own a 12 month membership prepaid card and don't want to be automatically charged for more membership. I will add it back after I use the prepaid card. I had one of my chats forwarded to the advocacy group and got an email 2 days later and it didn't help.

I want an explanation about this problem and I want to know if the all the times I tried to buy membership will go trough once my membership expires soon. (I've tried about ~10 times both cards combined) I also want to know what one of the chat people said about my 8 year streak. If my membership runs out and I enter the 12 month card on the same day will I lose my 8 year streak of continuous membership? (this is VERY important to me)

P.S. I have the error code from my first error written down. And also the error code from my prepaid card.

I'm not entirely sure what the codes mean as there is no info on them.  I would recommend calling phone support and speaking with billing as it may be a billing issue.

As for the streak, don't worry about it.  MS long ago stopped removing your tenure if you reverted to silver from a gold membership.

i redeemed a code for 12 months and got.....  error code 801650c8 what does it mean an outstanding balance???anybody know a fix??

I've had like 5 text chats with billing support and they didn't really help me, except my latest one that said something about the memberships not stacking and that they're working on it.

You can check your account history and whether or not there is a balance owing at https://commerce.microsoft.com.  Other than that you would need to contact phone support for more assistance as this does seem to be a billing issue.

I got an email last night about about 9PM that said my membership ended. I then added my 12 month prepaid card and it accepted it. Didn't lose my 8 year streak! Problem solved!
