gamertag issues

I recently bought the 250 gb xbox 360 with built in wifi so that I could finally plays games on xbox live. For years I just played games offline with my old xbox 360, but I decided it was time to get live. I made an account and joined xbox live for one month to get a feel for it. However, now I want to use the gamertag that I played offline with for years online. I have achievement points and a custom avatar that i really like and I want that to be my profile on Xbox live. Is it possible to use my old gamertag that i never played online with now and still have my achievements and avatar?

Yes it is possible. You will need to connect the Xbox to Xbox LIVE and then selete "Join Xbox LIVE" and follow the registration process.

That will promote your offline profile into an online gamertag.

You can't put the avatar or achievements from your second account on to your first account but you can upgrade your first account to be able to play on XBL. Sign into it, click the avatar box and then connect to Xbox Live.
