Frustrated to no end, please help(log in issue)

Ok, so this has been a freakin nightmare for the past few days. Heres the whole scoop. I used to own an xbox, I then got rid of it and recently got a new one the other night. I was unable to remmember my password for my account, and tried so many times i was locked out from retrieving it, so I was not able to reset it at this point. I have proof I created a windows live account in 2008, however I was just now able to re sign up under the same account name. So it seems somehow that account got deleted? I cant use my old gamertag which is all I even want to do at this point, because its taken. However because I was able to sign in with the old username and it doesnt have any of my saves gamer points or stats or anything, no one will ever be able to sign into that account to use that name. Does anyone have a number I can call or something? I have no idea what to do anymore??

Is there a microsoft number I can call? I tried that x box number earlier today and they said its not a x box issue its a microsoft issue but he said there is no contact information for microsoft. Is this true or should I just try to re call that x box number?

Accounts do not get deleted on XBOX Live, Microsoft stores gamertags for upwards of 7 years. The reason you were able to re-signup using an e-mail was because this is a randomly generated gamertag that you get when you sign up on XBOX.com using an e-mail that has never been to XBOX.com. So, you are using the wrong e-mail/password combination to login to the account. You will need to contact XBOX Support over the phone and give them your gamertag and go through some questions so they are able to better assist you. Unfortunately, if you are unable to answer their questions they will not be able to help in any way with returning the account to you.

FYI: Microsoft owns the XBOX name so I don't quite know whom you spoke with or what you said to them to make them reply back with that's a Microsoft problem.  You will need to call them up again and speak with them about finding out the e-mail attached to your account by at least being able to verify some key information on your account.
