Frequently disconnecting from Xbox Live

I am aware that this is a common problem but after an hour or so of scouring through Google, I haven't been able to find anything that has done any good. It should also be mentioned that I am not using my actual Xbox LIVE account as I have trouble signing in with it on my PC.

The problem that I'm having is that when I play online, I usually play for around 20-30 minutes before my Xbox suddenly disconnects from Xbox LIVE. It's not a problem with my router, I have restarted it several times and I have my PC right next to me which never has any problems wit internet connection. My internet is very stable. I'm just wondering why it keeps disconnecting without fail after 20-30 minutes of playing online.

My Xbox is too far away to connect via cable. I only recently started playing my Xbox again and I never had these problems when I was playing around a year ago.

Hey HumungousPort21,

It sounds like you might have some issues with the profile.

Could you try the following:

  1. Reset Xbox 360 Network Settings to default
  2. Delete your profile (profile only, NOT profile and all items)
  3. Clear the System Cache three times
  4. Restart the console
  5. Re-download your profile
Let us know if doing this fixed the issue =)

I can't delete my profile. I created my account 4 years ago and since then, It's been deleted (the hotmail account) and I have no way to get back on to it as it doesn't exist anymore. I contacted Xbox live support about this before but they couldn't help me.

Hey there Humungous! That might be part of the issue.

I suggest using the Contact Us page to set up a support call with an account specialist who will be able to help you with your options to get your account on an active email.

You will need your account to be on an active email so that you can download it and access it.

Let us know how that goes. ^_^
