Forced Name Change?

So, late last night I attempted to log into my account and I was immediately greeted with this little treat:

"In accordance with Xbox LIVE policy, the gamertag i MHein i is no longer allowed.  Please change your gamertag before playing on Xbox LIVE."

In an attempt to determine that rationale behind the name ban I called the support department in hopes of this enigmatic situation being resolved.  However, the support department stated that there wasn't a single note regarding why the name change was enforced and they suggested that I make a post here.

I guess that's what I'm going to do, so here I am.  I'd like to know why this account was deemed inappropriate or anything of the sort.  This gametag, while not my name, was a nickname given to me ages ago by someone that knew me and a person name "L. Hein."  This person was a dear friend of mine that had certain medical issues, and ended up being my best friend -- the remaining bits of the story aren't necessary, but this name is something that I've latched onto.

Basically, I was Heins "little brother" and people started calling me Hein, and since he came first with the L some people attached the M onto my nickname and it just stuck.

I've had this account for 7+ years, so I feel as though I deserve some sort of explanation for why this is happening now.  If the name ban is final, then I'd like to have the account completely disabled.

You might want to ask in forum #14. That is where the XBLPET live, and they're the ones who do all this kind of stuff. Good luck, and hopefully it can be taken care of.

You should pm  Mister Gwyther or Miss Portia to see if you can have it reversed but usually they don't reverse them.

Yeah...waste of time.  Change it.  MS doesn't care about your nickname.  Might as well quit wasting time.

I care about the name, so it isn't a waste of time for me.  If I wanted a meaningless randomly generated name, I would've simply used something provided by Xbox LIVE.  Fortunately law school keeps me occupied, so not having access to my account at this point in time won't cause me to simply rush to change my name in order to get back to gaming.  I don't think asking for clarification is too much to ask since I wasn't provided with any sort of reason for the closure via email, phone call, or message via Xbox LIVE (aside from the change your name notification).

As dizzyrussell stated this needs to be discussed on forum #13.  There you will receive assistance from an Xbox Live Policy and Enforcement Team Member, support agents can't view or give information on enforcements enacted on an account.

Do not PM Mister Gwyther or Miss Portia. They will not be able to assist you with this. They are great support but do not work in that department. The only thing you can do is post in here. forums.xbox.com/.../41.aspx They may respond to you or they may not. I don't think you will get very far. Most of the time from what I have seen they do not talk about a FNC.

Ok...so since you have heard the same thing several times anyway:  you can post all you want.  All the clarification you will ever get is in the TOU.  For some reason, your GT has been deemed to be a violation of it.  It does you no good to continue to wonder about it....change and go on!
