Forced name change and errors

I got logged out of xbl, told to change my gt, so I tried and I get 'Sorry, there's a problem with the Xbox server...Status code:8C020007' I deleted my profile and redo, and I keep getting this, it won't let me change my gt on Xbox or on the site, I looked up status code 8C020007 on the Xbox site and nothing came up, I can't log on to xbl because of the name change rule thingy, but I can't change my name cause it won't let me on xbl!! I tried to also use the support chat option, didn't work either.. I don't know what to do and some help would be appreciated

Have you also tried the following?

• cleared cache 3x here's the link: support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

• redownloaded profile (is this didn't work keep reading)

• login to login.live.com (if you are able to sign in keep reading, if you received an error trying to login skip to step 2)

• delete system update, delete system update by highlighting the hard drive on your xbox and press these buttons one at a time ( lb, rb, x, lb, rb, x) and then download profile

step 2

• if you get some sort of error message online like a glitch, you might have a blocked account and you might need to call phone support to get a specialist.

Let me know if it worked! :D

Deleting a system update seems a bit of overkill to be honest, but that is my opinion

But clearing the cache and  deleting the profile is something worth to try, just do it in the following order:

-

1. Delete your profile from the console, be sure to delete only the profile, to do so check this link: support.xbox.com/.../profile-move-delete

2. Clear the console cache, see this link for the how to: support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

3. Turn the console off.

4. Turn the console on.

5. Clear the console cache one more time

6. Redownload your profile.(See the same link as 2.) you might have to enter the security verification afterwards and all should be fine again.

-

Try the gamertag change again.

-

If these steps fail, you will need to contact Xbox Support via support.xbox.com/contact-us

-

Let us know the results

Hi Peckerwood,

There does seem to be something unique happening on your account.

I would suggest giving Phone Support a ring, and having them take a look into your account.

Let us know what they find, or if you have anymore questions.

I got it working, turned out it wouldn't work on anything other than IE... Lol, they couldn't tell me what 8C020007 was either. Anyways thanks

Just a comment on the error codes: They usually just refer to a line of code. If it's not a common documented error it's pretty easy to confuse support.

It sounds like you were busted for an inappropriate Gamertag and then you weren't able to change it immediately due to a brief suspension...

After playing Destiny, I got off my Xbox 360 console. When I got back on, it told me that my account couldn't connect to Xbox Live and suggested me to re-download the account. But once I did, it changed my Gamertag and I can't change it back without paying $10! Can anyone tell me why?

It's best if you create your own thread instead of bumping an old one. You were given a forced name change because the enforcement team determined your old gamertag violated the code of conduct. You would need to post here for an official answer as to why - forums.xbox.com/.../41.aspx
